Description: The scheme shows the value chain of excreta: containment, emptying, transport, treatment, reuse or disposal. It is used to illustrate the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WSH) program of the Gates Foundation. The idea is to recover resources and to improve sanitation in areas with no centralized sewerage systems in order to contribute to sustainable sanitation services for the poor.
