Description: Sandstone Signpost, Thingwall. This sandstone signpost, dated 1776, is inscribed with the initials of James Clemens, Lord Mayor of Liverpool 1775-1776 who owned the lovely house, Ashfield, which was recently demolished following a fire. Situated at the junction of Thomas Lane and Thingwall Lane, the entrance to Ashfield can be seen behind the pillar.
