Description: The backside of San Luis Dam near Los Banos, in the eastern slopes of the Diablo Range of western Merced County, California. The Gianelli Powerhouse can be seen at the base of the dam, a part of the California State Water Project system infrastructure. The San Luis Reservoir is used to store water for the California State Water Project. In addtion, it is the upper reservoir in a pumped-storage hydroelectric system.
