These include the diagonal braces under both decks and the replacement of steel lattice work on the beams with plate. The access holes in the plate facilitated the attachment of the plates using high strength bolts, replacing the earlier hot rivets used previously. Image selectively contrast enhanced. Similar lattice beam structural elements remain unmodified on the eastern span, which is to be entirely replaced.
