Description: Backdropped against the darkness of space and the Gulf of Hormuz, the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle Columbia and its primary payload, the Microgravity Science Laboratory (MSL-1) Science Module were photographed through aft flight deck windows by one of the crew members of the mission. Five NASA astronauts and two payload specialists went on to spend 16 days supporting the MSL-1 mission in Earth-orbit.
