Description: Upper reservoir of the Santa Barbara Mission, Mission Historical Park in Santa Barbara, California. The penstock and the connected clay culvert (shown) allowed water to flow downward at a 35 degree angle toward the water wheel, causing it to rotate and generate power for the millstones to grind grain.
