Glauber made his living from various lucrative chemical operations, some pharmaceutical, and others, such as manipulating the characteristics of wine. From time to time he contracted his secrets out, sometimes with unfortunate consequences. In one instance he got into a public dispute with a contractee, Christoff Farner, whom he accused publicly of stealing his processes.
