Description: King Kalakaua once lived in the Royal Bungalow, also known as Hale ʻĀkala which was on the Palace grounds where the current ʻIolani Barracks stand. The photo is undated but was probably taken before Charles Hastings Judd's death in 1890. In the group are King Kalakaua, Queen Kapiolani, Col. Charles H. Judd and Mrs. Antoinette Swan. The current ʻIolani Palace was completed in 1882 and the Bungalow was demolished in 1919.
