Description: The Rood is high above the Communion Rail at the spring of the chancel arch, supported on a huge oaken beam. Its position at the entrance of the Sanctuary or "Holy of Holies" is the ancient and traditional one signifying that heaven is entered through Christ crucified - the Nave symbolizing the world. The five figures are Our Lord, Our Lady, St. John and the two thieves.
