Description: Bronze equestrian statue of Robert E. Lee and his horse Traveller in Market Street Park (formerly Emancipation Park) – known as Lee Park in 2008 – in Charlottesville, Virginia. First United Methodist Church steeple in the background. The Robert Edward Lee, commissioned in 1917 and dedicated in 1924, is located in the Charlottesville and Albemarle County Courthouse Historic District. The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
