Yet the house was un-finished at the time when this transfer was effected. Theillustrations of Lansdowne House occur in the second volume ofthe Works, and upon the plan, elevation, and external detail, pub-lished in this volume, the inscription: R- Adam, Architect, 1765, Text Appearing After Image: Fig. 134. From theentry in the Diaryof Lady Shelburnefor the 14th January1766, it appears thather ladyship andthe Earl paid avisit of inspectionon that day to thenew house in Berke-ley Square.
