Description: The ordinance of Governor-General of the General Government of German occupied Poland Hans Frank of October 26th, 1939 banning the ritual slaughter of animals Ordinance on the prohibition of ritual slaughter. of October 26th, 1939 Pursuant to § 5 sec. 1 of the Decree of the Führer and the Chancellor of the German Reich on Administration of the occupied Polish territories of October 12, 1939, I order: § 1 Tormenting animals of any kind is unacceptable in the area under German administration. I therefore prohibit with immediate effect the ritual slaughter - that is torturous killing of animals by the gradual letting of blood for the purposes of the so-called kosher eating of meat. § 2 (1) Anyone who commits ritual slaughter shall be punishable by severe imprisonment of more than one year. (2) An accomplice, an instigator or an accessory shall be subject to the same punishment as the perpetrator. (3) Attempted crime shall be punishable with the same penalty as an accomplished crime.
