Description: Remington Carriage Museum in Cardston Alberta is North America's largest collection of horse drawn vehicles. During the 19th century, everyday transportation revolved around horse drawn buggies, wagons, sleighs, carriages, etc. They ranged from small ones for personal transportation to large ones for commercial overland transport. Some of the buggies look like what you would expect from Heritage Park or Banff. But some of them look much more advanced and impressive complete with headlights. For a while, some people thought that as cities and towns developed there would be too many horses around and the streets would become filled with manure. Good thing we've now solved our environmental problems concerning transportation. ;) Don Remington was a local businessman from Cardston Alberta who ran a concrete construction company. He spent his spare time restoring horse drawn vehicles and later donated them to become the core collection of the Remington Carriage Museum. www.wilsonhui.com
