Description: Today we travel to the actual site of the South Fork Dam which failed in 1889, causing the Johnstown Flood. You can see the two ends of the earth dam (with the walkways and vista points on either end). The large notch in the middle - now covered by trees - is the section that gave way when the dam broke. U.S. Route 219 is at upper right.
