Description: Proposed flag of Ireland by a John Harrington from Chicago, who wrote to Taoiseach Éamon de Valera on 10 June 1957, suggesting that Ireland should replace its "atheistic tricolour" with a cross, so that Ireland would be the only Catholic country in the world to feature a cross on its flag.
