Description: Rankot Vihara, the largest stupa in Polonnaruwa at 55m (180 ft) tall, was erected by the ever-active Nissankamalla in imitation of the great stupas at Anuradhapura. It is located in the monastic area north of the Hindu shrines. Around its circumference there are Vahalkadas and small brick shrines. The shape of the dome is quite flattened, compared to the stupas in Anuradhapura.
