Image: Plan and front elevation of the lieutenant governor's house

Description: Plan and elevation of the first residence for the Lieutenant Governor ("Government House") built in Upper Canada (the current province of Ontario). The residence was erected in 1799-1800 by Captain Robert Pilkington at Fort York, and was first occupied by the colony's second Lieutenant Governor, Peter Hunter. The structure was destroyed when a nearby powder magazine exploded in 1813 during the War of 1812. Rooms are not identified on the plan, and only the kitchen and the bake oven (right side) can be identified with any certainty.
