Description: Pilsey Island, Chichester Channel The island can be seen on the far side of the channel and is connected to Thorney Island by a causeway. However, the island is strictly off limits to the public due to its importance as a bird habitat. However, some of the saltmarsh and mudflats are also in this square on the opposite side of the channel from Pilsey. I was initially reluctant to try and walk out onto them but spotting two kids out on the edge of the mudflats north of Ella Nore I decided to have a go - getting as far as the grid line as my GPS indicated before stopping, snapping and turning back. Actually some of the flats have small areas of shingle which stabilises the mud but I was certainly not going any further, I was sinking enough as I taking this shot. This is 12 minutes beyond the point of low tide.
