Title: Dissertations académiques sur la nature du froid et du chaud. Paris: Olivier de Varennes, 1671. Pierre Petit is better known as a physicist and an astronomer. He was active in Mersenne’s circle before the founding of the Academie Royale des Sciences and assisted Pascal with his barometric experiments. This work, from late in his life, focuses on the nature of hot and cold.
