Description: The Petition of Right, a major English constitutional document that sets out specific liberties of the subject that the king is prohibited from infringing. Drafted by a committee headed by Sir Edward Coke, it was passed by the House of Commons on 8 May 1628, ratified by both the House of Commons and House of Lords on 26 and 27 May 1628, and eventually ratified by King Charles I of England on 7 June 1628.
