A Bulgarian, Peter, surnamed Delyan, and servant of an inhabitant of Constantinople, fled from the capital and began to roam all over Bulgaria. He reached Morava and Belgrade fortresses in Pannonia, situated on the banks of the Isterus, close to the lands of the King of Turkia. He declared that he was the son of Roman, Samuil's son and incited the Bulgarians, who had recently put their necks under the yoke and were strongly striving towards freedom.
