Description: In May 2009, the Anchorage Adventurers Meetup group went on a Heart and Lunger hike to Bird Ridge. This is a steep climb - it climbs about 4,000 feet in a few miles - it is a good conditioning hike. About 30 people started up the trail - some were focused and very fit, the rest of us were out to check out the scenery and take advantage of the great weather. I climbed for about 1.5 hours, not sure how high I got or how far, but the views were incredible. The only downer was a soon as I stopped the mosquitoes swarmed all over me. I think I sweated out my Cutters - ended up with over 100 bites - it was nasty and I was sore for a few days after that, but a good time was had by all!
