Murphy, listen to a benediction prayer during a ceremony outside the Michael P. Murphy Post Office. The ceremony, held on Murphy's birthday, recognized his heroic actions during Operation Red Wing, and included the unveiling of a Purple Heart monument outside the post office. Murphy was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in Afghanistan and will have the guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) named in his honor.
