Description: This is tomb EA 6 at Amarna (ancient Akhetaten) which belonged to Panehesy. He held numerous offices such as 'Chief servitor of the Aten in the temple of Aten in Akhetaten' and 'Seal-bearer of Lower Egypt' which emphasizes his importance in Akhenaten's new state capital. His tomb, is one of the better decorated of the North Tombs of Amarna and features excellently carved, though partly damaged, reliefs and retains a lot of its original colour especially on the 2 tomb columns here. The decorated wall façades of the tomb shows scenes of the Egyptian royal family worshipping the Aten with attendant dwarfs. In later times, Panehesy's tomb was re-used as a Coptic church.
