Description: The passenger-cargo steamship Oceanus dockside at Charleston, South Carolina, in 1865, during an excursion trip from New York organized for interested parties to attend the re-raising of the United States flag over Fort Sumter. Oceanus was built in New York in 1864 by J.B. & J.D. Van Deusen for the Neptune Steamship Company.
