Description: Nottingham Arboretum - Chinese Bell and Sebastopol cannons. In the pagoda-like pavilion. Hanging Chinese bell, and the cannons (captured at the Battle of Sebastopol in the Crimean War), were trophies of one of the local regiments, the name of which is sadly obscure on the inscription. At this scale the photo does not show the fact that the lettering round the eaves of the pagoda are in Russian and Chinese characters. See 790121 for a closer view
