Description: Nine Stones Stone Circle This small stone circle stands in a clearing in forestry near the summit of Nine Stone Rig and is believed to be Early Bronze Age. According to legend this is where the wizard Lord Soulis was rolled in lead and boiled alive. "At the Skelf-hill, the cauldron still The men of Liddesdale can show; And on the spot, where they boiled the pot, The spreat and the deer-hair ne'er shall grow" (Leydon) (Source: The Border Country, A Walker's Guide by Alan Hall)
