Description: The tile floor mosaic (detail of a flower) in the entrance of the central (main) branch of the Milwaukee Public Library in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These floors were hand-laid by master Italian craftsmen who had settled in Milwaukee. Tessera, the small squarish pieces of colored marble or tile, were used in the making of the mosaic floors.
