Description: Mirant Kendall Cogeneration Station, est. 1949, a power plant in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Cogeneration means that steam is used for both electricity and heating and cooling production. Capacity: 256 megawatts. The rusted fence in the foreground is for the MBTA Red Line tracks on the Longfellow Bridge. Mirant was acquired by GenOn Energy in December 2010, which was itself acquired by NRG in December 2012.
