Description: Map showing major locations during the Cherokee invasion of the Overmountain settlements (modern northeast Tennessee) in 1776 at the outset of the American Revolution. Fort Caswell (later called Fort Watauga) was located at modern Elizabethton, Tennessee. Fort Lee was located along the Nolichucky near modern Limestone, Tennessee. Eaton's Station (sometimes called "Heaton's Station") was located in the vicinity of modern Kingsport, Tennessee (various sources place it on Reedy Creek at the base of Chestnut Ridge, while others place it at Long Island of the Holston). Modern state boundaries are shown for reference. Sources: Samuel Cole Williams, Tennessee During the Revolutionary War, p. 99; John Finger, Tennessee Frontiers, pp. 62.
