Description: The mosque was built between 1583 and 1586 for the Ottoman sultan Murad III. Though designed by Mimar Sinan it was built by the architect Mahmud Halife until his death and then from January 1586 by the architect Sedefkar Mehmed Aga who would later design the Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Istanbul. An associated madrasa and guest-house were completed after 1590. The mosque is part of a larger complex (Külliye) consisting of a medrese (Islamic school) and imaret (public charity kitchen). The imaret is now the Manisa Museum. The names of the pictures should be self-explanatory.
