Description: Image of the Messier 1 (Crab Nebula) pulsar using OES - Photoncounting camera PC01 Presentation of about 30 minutes of collected light quantum in slow motion. Due to its fast rotation, the pulsar emits 30 bright and 30 weak flashes of light per second towards Earth. The neighboring stars, however, remain constant in their brightness. The time resolution of the camera is 3 microseconds. The presentation is NOT an animation of rigid data, but real measurement data! (Many thanks to Dr. Barwig at Wendelstein Observatory for granting observation time at the 80cm telescope and to Mr. Pruksch for the programming of the software and the reduction of the data recorded there.)
