Description: Log Wall area of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, on the 4 mile level between locks 14 and 15. Originally there was a "log wall" built here to hold the rubble, connecting Bear Island with the mainland[1]; that's why the boatmen called this area the "Log Wall". Hurricane Agnes washed the whole log wall out in 1972, and the NPS replaced it with what you see here.
