Description: Historical marker for the Lockheart Ferry site — located on the Pit River near Fall River Mills, in Shasta County, California. California Historical Landmark No. 555. The Lockhart Ferry was a stagecoach station and ferry for a wagon trail crossing at the confluence of the Pit River and Fall River. It began operation in 1856, and became an important station on the California Stage Company on the Red Bluff to Yreka route.
