Description: Lift Tower Northampton Built to test lifts by the Express Lift Company, decommissioned when Otis lifts took over. Sold to a house building company who built so close as to prevent any demolition. Concrete cancer was discovered on a routine inspection and it now needs a protective covering. It is alleged that the tower may be used again for its original purpose. An unmissable landmark that regularly features as the Northampton lighthouse in the letters to Terry Wogan on Radio 2. There appears to be communication equipment on top of the building and you certainly get a strong phone signal close by.
