Description: The Lessing House was built in 1738 as a courtier's house with three wings and corner pavilions in the style of a French park chateau. From 1777 till 1781 it was the residence of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing , the ducal librarian. The building has formed part of the Herzog August Bibliothek since 1968. It displays an exhibition on the life and work of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and contains housing for fellows of the library.
