Description: Leen Valley Railway bridge Part of the Midland Railway empire. The Leen Valley branch was the first line to be built up the Leen Valley to tap the coalfields between Nottingham and Mansfield. It was late joined by a branch of the Great Northern Railway and the Great Central. Here it crosses the Nottingham Canal on a plate girder bridge. At this point the line also carries traffic from Nottingham to Chesterfield and Sheffield via the Erewash Valley line.
