Description: Landes McDonough House — in Galveston, Texas. Henry Landes had this house built in 1887-88. It is reputed to have given refuge to 200 people during the 1900 hurricane -- the worst natural disaster in U.S. history. Later it was bought by John McDonough, and still later it housed a fine arts center for several years.
