The hotel consists of the gabled-roof section facing Gay Street (this is the original 1817 building, which still stands), an ell wing connected to the main building which overlooks Cumberland Street (replaced by the rear theater wing in 1909), and a kitchen wing, creating a half-rectangle around an open courtyard.
