Description: This 1917 photograph depicted a gathering of swimmers at the Lake Calhoun public bathing beach in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This image offered a view of the pavilion and beach area. It was taken during a Minnesota Department of Health study of the public bathing areas. The descriptive information accompanying the photograph referred to a governmental publication discussing public health concerns at such public bathing venues.
