Description: In 1952, L. S. Lowry was commissioned by York Art Gallery to paint a scene of York. He actually created three paintings - this one, entitled A View of York (from Tang Hall Bridge), portrays a view of the Derwent Valley Light Railway from Tang Hall bridge (Melrosegate) in the York suburbs.
