Description: Watercolour with pen and ink of a portrait of the Tsare-Dau-Gee (စာရေးတော်ကြီး , Sayeidawgyi) or Royal Scribe at Amarapura. This most amusingly imperturbable old official was invested with charge of the British Residency as a sort of Major Domo; an office he contrived to fill with that amount of success which won for him the very highest need of - self satisfaction.
