Description: This is a photo of the Kings County Courthouse, originally built in 1775. It was renamed the Washington County Courthouse after the Revolutionary War when RI changed the name of the county in honor of General George Washington. This building served as the county seat for Washington County until 1892, and is currently the home of the Kingston Free Library. It is located at 2605 Kingstown Rd (RT 138), Kingston, RI 02881, at the main entrance to the University of Rhode Island.
