Description: Kilpin Brick Ponds, Kilpin, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Disused wind pump incorporated into the end of a house between the ponds near Elmtree Farm, Kilpin. The pump was used to drain water from the clay pits or 'brick ponds' until excavations broke through the clay layer and the ponds filled up permanently with water. The ponds are now used as a fishing venue. The picture is taken from the old public footpath to Bellcross Lane in Howden. This public right of way is no longer very useful since the route was cut through by the M62 motorway.
