Description: The high school graduation photo from Lathrop High School of Juanita Lou Lauesen (1941-2009), later better known by her married name of Juanita Helms. She was involved in Democratic Party politics in Fairbanks for many years, but is best known as a politician for holding the nonpartisan office of mayor of the Fairbanks North Star Borough from 1985 to 1991. The borough's adminstrative offices in downtown Fairbanks were named for her in 2015.
