Description: A plaque commemorating Juana Maria, who died in 1853 and was the last living member of the Native American Nicoleño branch of the Chumash tribe, from San Nicholas Island off the coast. The plaque was placed at the Santa Barbara Mission cemetery in 1928 by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
