JANE BARLOW. (Miss Barlow is the daughter of the Rev.J. W. Barlow, Vice-Provost of Trinity Col-lege, Dublin. She was born at Clontarf,County Dublin, and has lived nearly all herlife at The Cottage, Raheny, County Dublin,a house which shows its deep eaves of thatchto the Dublin road. There, in a life of theutmost quietness, her genius evolved itself.She had published a good deal of unacknow-ledged work in prose and verse before theappearance of Boyland Studies, which in1892 assured those interested in such mattersof the appearance of a new force in Irishliterature.
