Description: The Diana was a 350 ton German built steam/sail whaler. Based out of Hull and under the command of Captain John Gravill she is remembered for an ill-fated 14 month voyage in 1866-7 where she was icebound for six months. 13 crew members including the Captain did not survive. In 1868 she was wrecked off the Lincolnshire coast signalling the end of Hull's whaling trade.
