British cricket player, he played in county cricket for Cambridgeshire (1904) and Surrey (1905 - 1934), and for England (1908 - 1930), made 5410 runs in 61 Test matches (average 56.94), and a record number of 197 centuries and 61,167 runs in first-class cricket. .
