Description: Arctostaphylos luciana—Santa Lucia manzanita. The species has the CNPS Rare Plant Rank of 1B.2 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere). A. luciana grows in San Luis Obispo County in the southern Santa Lucia Mountains. It is found on ocean-facing slopes at the upper boundary of the marine layer. Some populations are in the Cuesta Ridge Botanical Special Interest Area of the Los Padres National Forest. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
